Senior Power BI Developer
Peak Performers has partnered with a state education agency to assist in their search for a Power BI Developer in Austin, Texas. In this contract position, you will be responsible for designing and delivering enterprise business intelligence solutions that transform complex data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards, scalable reporting solutions, and advanced data models.

- Design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and DAX calculations to support agency-wide reporting needs.
- Build and optimize dimensional data models that transform complex datasets into high-performing, scalable reporting solutions.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into intuitive, actionable visualizations. - Manage Power BI workspaces, gateway configurations, scheduled data refreshes, security, testing, and performance optimization.
- Validate data accuracy, troubleshoot reporting issues, and leverage source control tools to support development and deployment best practices.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and advanced DAX calculations.
- At least 8 years of experience transforming complex datasets into high-performing data models.
- Experience managing Power BI workspaces, gateway configuration, scheduled refreshes, and report security.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data storytelling, visualization best practices, and user-centered dashboard design.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable reporting solutions and independently manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with Git or BitBucket source control and testing Power BI solutions for data accuracy and performance.
- Previous experience working with Texas state agencies and public education or special education data sets.
- Preferred experience with SAS datasets (.sas7bdat), Jira, or additional business intelligence tools such as SAP or Tableau.
