Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general supervision of the Pre-Admit Manager, performs support services for the department, assigned clerical, secretarial, and related responsibilities, promoting communication between the Director, Manager, medical staff, and hospital staff. Provides effective scheduling by management of PODS (PreOp Documentation System) and telehealth appointments. Applies knowledge of surgical procedure paperwork, keeps files updated and organizes paperwork from the Fondren Orthopedic Group for all Texas Orthopedic Hospital surgical patients. The PODS/ Telehealth scheduler has good communication skills with the physician offices as well as with the staff of the Pre-Admit department.
What will you do in this role:
- Obtains all appropriate information required for the scheduling of procedures for Rehabilitation.
- Assists with ordering of office supplies in a timely manner.
- Assists with orientation/training of new staff members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Scheduling Supervisor.
- Under guidance of the Director and Assistant Director, determines appropriate priorities for activities based on work demand.
- Prioritize activities based on a large volume of work demands in collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director and other hospital personnel and lets supervisor know if unable to complete tasks.
- Applies knowledge of rehab scheduling procedures to ensure maximum utilization of available staff and equipment.
- Schedules and reschedules appointments with minimal error. Focusing on “team” utilization as much as possible.
- Constructs patient charts accurately with all appropriate contents.
- Proficient in utilization of appropriate office equipment, including word processing and computer systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Meditech.
- Maintains sufficient verbal contact with patients in waiting room and provides information regarding delays related to care.
What qualifications you will need:
- High school Diploma preferred. College preparation related to office or managerial organization preferred.
- Proficiency in using word processing, computer equipment, and miscellaneous office equipment. Previous executive secretarial experience in hospital or selected commercial enterprise preferred. Basic course in medical terminology preferred. No experience Required Years of Experience
