Registered Nurse Preadmission Testing PRN

Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN PAT is responsible for coordinating and preparing patients for surgical and procedural admissions. This includes obtaining accurate patient demographics, surgical orders, and screening information from patients and physician offices. The RN ensures completeness and accuracy of pre-admission charts, audits documentation, and facilitates communication with Business Services and ancillary departments.

What you will do in this role: 

  • Complete patient packets and schedule patients per physician orders.
  • Contact physician offices to obtain records and verify proper orders per HIM policy.
  • Enter and update patient demographics, procedures, tests, and equipment in the pre-admissions system.
  • Answer phones; schedule, reschedule, or edit procedures as requested by physicians or patients.
  • Communicate with ancillary departments to facilitate walk-ins, add-ons, and resource updates.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize CPCS, PAS, Meditech, Microsoft Office, fax/e-fax systems, and office equipment.
  • Troubleshoot system and equipment issues; coordinate with Help Desk as needed.
  • Attend mandatory training and staff meetings; adhere to infection control, patient safety, and OSHA standards.
  • Report potential patient safety issues using the occurrence reporting system.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing peer support; act as a resource for coordinators and departments.
  • Serve as primary contact in supervisor’s absence.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, service excellence, and adherence to company values.

What qualifications you will need:
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse Diploma
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
