The electrical training ALLIANCE's goal is to provide the Electrical Construction Industry with the most highly trained and skilled workforce possible. While direct training occurs through local training programs, the electrical training ALLIANCE develops enhanced education standards to meet the competitive challenges of today's global market economy.
In addition to receiving skill training on the job, each apprentice is provided with trade-related classroom training that produces competency and pride that lead to true craftsmanship. Quite often, local training committees provide special classes with hands-on training to support classroom lectures and discussions.
The Inside Wireman installs conduit systems that contain the wire from the motor control centers or panelboards to all of the equipment that uses electricity. Those conduits may contain power cables or control cables. Many of the conduit systems are exposed and must be installed to exacting standards using neat and workmanlike craftsmanship.
The work of an Inside Wireman can vary. One day the Inside Wireman could be installing a Fire Alarm System or Security System in a high rise building and the next day he or she could be installing conduit in a ditch on the outside of the building. Inside Wiremen also install electrical systems in industrial facilities such as chemical plants, power plants, chip manufacturing facilities and automobile plants. Each type of installation has specific electrical needs and systems to support those needs. While there are many tasks associated with the Inside Wireman classification, the apprenticeship training provides all of the knowledge necessary.

Requirements
NOTICE OF APPRENTICE OPPORTUNITY January 1, 2026
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must present a twenty dollar ($20.00) application fee at the time of applying.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess and present a valid driver’s license. All documents must be legible.
- Must present your Birth Certificate.
- Must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED; or have earned a two year Associate Degree or higher.
- Must provide FULL official transcripts for high school and for any post high school training.
Transcript must include: Class Rank, Cumulative GPA and Attendance Record.
GED holders must submit all applicable records. - Must show evidence of one full credit of high school algebra with a passing grade, or
One full credit of post high school algebra with a passing grade,
Or completion of the NJATC course, TECH MATH. - Must be a resident of the jurisdiction covered by the Union for a period of one full year before applying.
The jurisdiction includes Belmont County in the State of Ohio. It includes, Ohio, Marshal and Wetzel
Counties in West Virginia, and Buffalo Township (to Washington Pike) in Brooke County, WV. - Must earn a qualifying score on an aptitude test administered by the JATC.
- Must be physically able to perform electrical construction work
- Selected applicants will participate in a drug screening, provided by the JATC and be found substance free
- Selected applicants will participate in a background check.
Applicants with physical or mental impairments may request accommodations during any part of the selection process.
Each applicant who meets all basic requirements will be interviewed by the JATC.
The interviewers will consider reliability, interest, attitude, judgment, cooperativeness, as well as other traits.
